Cosmic Ordering System

From:  Troutnut1, October 2019

“Worry is a negative prayer that actually has the power to bring about the thing worried about”.  (Chuck Chamberlain in the book “A New Pair Of Glasses” 1985)

“A man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.” (James Allen in the book “As A Man Thinketh” 1903)

History, and many good authors, remind me that I need to be careful what I think about. The mind is designed to manifest that which we think about. It’s just how humans work. I think of life as my Cosmic Ordering System. Things are “ordered” which we spend a lot of time thinking about. I used that to get my first motorcycle at 14. And more than a few girls. And practically everything else I have ever gotten. Others have called it the “Power of Positive Thinking” but I think it should have just been called the “Power of Thinking”.

Because here’s the catch. The mind, and my Cosmic Ordering System, doesn’t know, or really care, whether the thing I just ordered is good or bad. Or healthy. Or wise. Or whether I really want it or not. It just orders it if I spend a lot of time thinking about it.  I’ve ordered more than my share of fecal storms before I realized what was happening.

Paraphrasing James Allen in the quote above (and in the Bible), we reap what we sow. It’s not reasonable to plant weeds and expect corn to come up. If we plant weeds, we can expect weeds. These principals are ancient and well known.

This is important when we quit smoking and get a little cranky sometimes. Keep your eye on the treasure. And do you best to shoo away negative thoughts before they find their way to your Cosmic Ordering System. Replace them with positive thoughts when you notice weeds are creeping in.
